Giving Back and Paying It Forward

Author: Madison Rodriguez

As we approach the end of 2019, we would like to look back at our year and take stock of what we have done to give thanks to the communities that we spend so much time in. Philanthropy is a very important aspect of our company. We put a lot of time, energy, and resources into partnering with organizations that focus on improving the communities we call home. As a company, we like to get involved beyond periodically being a helping hand when needed. We prefer to share our services with the non-profit organizations we partner with to expand their audience and spread awareness of their amazing causes.

After many years of research and collaborative efforts, these are the organizations we are proud to serve:

Habitat for Humanity: San Gabriel Valley
Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to help solve the housing crisis by building affordable living spaces for families in need. By building properties on land they own, they are able to provide affordable housing to low income families and a guarantee that homeowners will never be faced with rent increases or exorbitant payments. Through the efforts of countless volunteers, housing is built, foundation to finish, in a matter of months. This allows the future homeowner to build their new home alongside volunteers and be a part of the process from start to finish!

As a member of the Habitat for Humanity’s external committee, we are reliable partners for them to reach out to when they need photography services for their events or marketing advice! Along with getting our hands dirty on construction sites, we are committed to photographing and documenting the builds and any other events they host!

United Way: Orange County
By focusing on education, income, health, and housing, United Way OC’s mission is to create a thriving Orange County for all of its residents!

Their goals are:
Education - fight the statics of youth falling from the educational system by creating engaging programs that encourage students in their schooling careers. United Way OC wants to make sure that when students finish their education, they are prepared for the professional world.

Income - end the cycle of generational poverty. It is no secret that California has a very high cost-of-living and Orange County is notoriously expensive zip code, but United Way OC is trying to combat that. Through the implementation of money management tools, coaching services, and related social services, they are doing their part to educate the OC community on how to manage finances in Southern California.

Health - improve the health of Orange County children and families. Through activity based programs and events, they hope to increase health standards to improve quality and longevity of life for Orange County families.
Housing- reduce homelessness in the community. By assisting residents in finding stable, permanent housing, United Way OC hopes to dramatically reduce the number of homeless individuals and families in Orange County.

We were recently honored to receive awards of recognition and appreciation from the House of Representatives and United Way for our dedication to the youth of Orange County. We are proud to be a part of their Youth Connections Program, which connects students to employers and gives them opportunities to experience what a true work environment is.

Sisters of Strength

Sisters Of Strength is a non-profit organization dedicated to empower single parents and their children to live a more meaningful and balanced life. Co-founders Giovanna Healy and Nora Verdesoto, both single parents, are continuously working to build strong relationships with community leaders and organizations to provide bilingual educational workshops to communities in need focused on education, self care, career development, parent training, financial literacy and legal aid.

We assist Sisters of Strength by helping them spread the word of their incredible aid and resources for single parents. Whether by accompanying them on media opportunities or creating video assets, we love raising awareness that Sisters of Strength can help single parents in need.

Las Fotos Project

Las Fotos Project’s main goal is to continue the growth of the arts in Los Angeles by giving the younger female community a chance to try their hand at photography. They provide an outlet for high school aged womxn to express themselves through the camera lens. With LA being highly impacted and generally low-income, the arts in schools are being neglected by low funding. Las Fotos Project’s aim is to combat that by putting a camera in the hands of young womxn and allowing them to test their photography skills. As a community based non-profit organization, Las Fotos Project works to elevate the voices of teenage girls from communities of color. Through a year-round program, they offer young womxn access to professional cameras, quality instruction and workshops that help them learn about different cultures, encourages them to explore their identity, helps them build leadership and advocacy skills, and strengthens their social and emotional well-being.

Our Chief Marketing Officer, Abby Tanori, was recently asked to serve on the Las Fotos Project Executive Advisory Board. This comes after her previous volunteering experience acting as a member of the Host Committee of the 2019 Las Fotos Awards. The Tanori Group was also corporate sponsors of the awards night and we have continued to support this amazing organization anyway we can!

All of these amazing non-profit organizations cater to the Southern California area and have amazing opportunities for everyone to get involved. Whether you are the type to put on a hard hat and get your hands dirty or write a check and contribute, each organization supports causes that speak to many. If you do not live in Southern California, but want to get involved in your community, we urge you to do your research and find ways to make a difference in your community today!

We love each of these organizations and will continue our work with them throughout 2020! The fulfillment we get from working with such amazing organizations is much more valuable than what we ultimately give to them. Volunteering provides such an amazing experience to not only give back to your community, but connect with those in your community that you may not have otherwise been able to meet. Below are a list of these organizations websites. Take a look and maybe one of them will spark an interest in you and we can see you at their next event!
